RECAP OF 2012 CALLYWOOD AWARDS

AWESOME, AWESOME WEEKEND!!!! The 2012 Callywood Awards weekend was excellent!!!! On Friday was the Kick Off party where Cosandra Calloway, illustrious host of Callywood(www.blogtalkradio.com/callywood), broadcasted her show and the authors of STRATEGIC PLANNING FOR LOVE & WAR were there signing their book. On Saturday, the Awards show was on and cracking. Thank you so much, Cally, for the award nomination. It was a great honor to be recognized for the work that God blesses me to do. On yesterday, I was treated to my first limo ride to the closing night of the musical MEMPHIS at the Pantages Theater Hollywood by Cally herself. It was wonderful!!!! TRUFFLEPALOOZA 2012

I was blessed to attend a wonderful event on yesterday. The Trufflepalooza is a event that was started 4 years ago by food blogger Erika Penzer Kerekes. The name of her blog is called IN ERIKA'S KITCHEN. The star ingredient was the truffle, which is a type of fungus (closely related to the mushroom). She made all kinds of wonderful and tasty appetizers with truffles. Some included creamy mushroom soup with truffles, truffle cheese chips, truffled tacos, truffle dumplings, filet mignon with homemade truffle butter, vanila pudding with truffle honey and hazelnuts and truffled chocolate truffles. This was my first time trying truffles; they really pack a huge punch. She only sprinkled mere shavings on everything, but that's all that was needed. It was an awesome experience. This was my first time going to this event, but it sure will not be my last. I hope to have Erika on my radio show sometime soon. LATASHA HARLINS TO TRAYVON MARTIN: HOW FAR HAVE WE COME?

On March 16, 1991, 15-year old Latasha Harlins was killed in a liquor store over a bottle of orange juice(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latasha_Harlins). This case, along with the Rodney King case, sparked the 1992 Los Angeles riots. Here we are 20 years later with Sanford, Florida having to deal with the Trayvon Martin case(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trayvon_Martin). What have we learned from all this? I did a video yesterday about my personal account about the L.A. riots(http://livestre.am/1KAJp). I just want to say again to the people of Sanford, Florida to not repeat our mistakes. Instead of reacting, continue to take action. Trayvon's parents has been so gracious in the handling of their son's case. Let's follow their lead. Taking action requires thought; reacting is doing stuff without thinking. Continue to take action in a positive way. Don't do things in haste that destroy your own community. LET JUSTICE TAKE ITS COURSE.

VALENTINE'S DAY GREETINGS

MY TRUE FEELINGS

I have to admit, folks. I am very torn with mixed emotions about Don Cornelius' death. Bottom line: HE COMMITTED SUICIDE. One one hand, I'm in RIP mode--on the other hand, it's kind of hard to honor somebody who DIDN'T HONOR HIS OWN LIFE. Someone who preached LOVE, PEACE & SOUL kills himself--THAT'S DEEP. Not judging him, you understand. It's just goes to show you that PEOPLE, EVEN THOSE WHO WE THINK GOT IT ALL TOGETHER, ARE HURTING. That's why the Bible talks about having a RENEWED MIND--WE NEED TO RENEW OUR MINDS EACH AND EVERY DAY. I wish Don would have did that Wednesday. Prayers and blessings go out to the Don Cornelius family.

Just came from Jewel Diamond Taylor's Super Goal Saturday on Martin Luther King holiday weekend!! What an awesome combination!! She encouraged us all that we will not lose if we keep moving forward. Sometimes in life we tend to fumble sometimes. As long as we keep getting up and running, we can make a touchdown!! Don't ever give up!!

I hope that you all had a wonderful first day of 2012. Let this be a year of new beginnings. Life is not meant to be a drudgery. Jesus came for us to have an abundant life. Stop looking back at the past--it is clouding your present and delaying your future. Always be on the lookout for opportunities--don't be afraid to try something new. What is your vision for 2012?
